The Centre for Arctic Preservation and the Running Melt
This project foresees a future narrative concerning the presently defunct Arctic seaport of Churchill, Manitoba—a town fraught with the complexities of historical colonial trading, industrial aspirations, and the contemporary realities of eco-tourism and the growing awareness of indigenous peoples’ rights. Here the seaport is reimagined within the lens of an optimistically changing climate, containing scientific, technological, and cultural programs responding to the advent of increased Arctic sea ice volumes.
