The United States has an affordable housing shortage. As the definition of family has changed with time, the approach that planners, designers, and policy makers utilize has remained consistent. Housing subsidies continue to elude the masses, true mixed-used housing developments are scarce, and thousands of families are displaced across America as social housing complexes are demolished.

[Housing] Destruction alludes to the systematic influence of poor housing on families and the built environment. This dysfunctional method of allocating resources often results in rampant displacement and splintered family dynamics. A pun, the fictional collage imagery, in conjunction with the historical data on the adjacent page, reference a scenario in which housing is literally being destroyed daily; this act also destroys the ideology of housing as it is perceived today.
