Introduction

Guest Editors' Theme issues are an important tool for assembling the best scholarship in an area of current interest. They are also a means to generate new architectural discussions around ideas that are emerging or that have been occluded by mainstream discourse. Generally theme issues are proposed by two or more scholars in a field, preferably from different institutions. At least one of the scholars must be a JAE board member.

In order to insure both a diversity of themes, and an orderly process of generating and producing these issues, please follow these guidelines:

1. Speak with the Executive Editor for general approval to proceed with your proposal.

2. Draft a "Call for Papers and/or Projects" for your proposed issue. It should be 200-300 words including addresses and general information (i.e. where JAE guidelines can be found, submission deadline, etc.) Submissions should always be sent to the Managing Editor, but Theme Editors should field all questions, so include your emails for that purpose.

3. Email your CFP to the Executive Editor or bring it to the JAE Board meeting. It will then be forwarded to the JAE Board members for comments via our listserv. If acceptable to the editor with input from the board, you will be given comments and asked to revise the CFP accordingly. If not acceptable, you will be informed at this point.
