JAE is a forum for architects and educators to exchange ideas on the many facets of architecture and the education of architects. JAE seeks original work and welcomes contributions related to a variety of issue areas. These include but are not limited to:

Design, Theory, Criticism
History, Technology, Teaching and Pedagogy
Academic Administration
Professional Practice and Ethics
Visual Communications and Electronic Applications

JAE will consider for publication both written articles and architectural design work, built and unbuilt. Written articles should be well organized, clearly written, interesting, coherent, intelligently argued, and accurate with regard to attributions. Architectural design works should be clearly presented in drawings and/or photographs, evidence scholarship in their development, and be directed to the exploration of ideas through design.

The Journal will only consider one submission by an author at any one time. Until that piece is published, we will not consider another piece. An author can have two submissions under consideration, if they are in two different categories: design and scholarly/research.

An important aim of JAE is to understand and examine all institutions that have an impact on architecture and the education of architects. In this light, JAE encourages prospective authors of articles and design work to view their efforts as an exercise in critical inquiry.
